L’Iris de Chanel: A Blooming Showcase at Villa Windsor

Visit of the 2024 Saison de Chanel at Villa Windsor, the former residence of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, for an extraordinary journey into Chanel’s iconic iris flower.

The exhibition unveils the meticulous process behind the creation of the iris’s delicate scent, derived from its rhizomes, tuber-like structures hidden beneath the soil. Each plant takes three years to grow, with the rhizomes requiring an additional three years to mature. This intricate and time-intensive process was beautifully illustrated in an educational display, highlighting Chanel’s unwavering commitment to craftsmanship and the artistry of nature.

The pale iris (Iris pallida), cultivated in Provence, serves as the foundation of four legendary Chanel fragrances: No. 19, named in honor of Coco Chanel’s birthday; La Pausa, inspired by her Mediterranean villa; the timeless No. 5’s purest extract; and the newest creation, Comète.
